No Surrender is a battle-cry for universal suffrage. It is a call for non-ideological democracy of the French revolution — the oppressed overcoming the oppressors. In modern times democracy has become an ideological bulwark, halting progress at every turn by trampling on grass-roots movements by virtue of the majority. Democracy, as defended by Pierre Cambronne, is the rights of all, defended by all, for the sake of all, expressed by each individually. There is no ideology inherent in democracy, and it is not something we should be grateful for. Universal suffrage was fought for by our ancestors; claimed for all humanity and by humanity, it is the very essence of what Aristotle calls man: zoon logon echon (The animal that speaks with the logos/universe).
